BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University women's soccer program has landed 12 new faces for the 2018 season, as head coach Cally Morrill announced the team's latest recruiting class on Monday morning. The Fighting Knights lost six players to graduation in 2017, including four members of their starting lineup and two key reserves.
"Our coaching staff is very pleased with how the recruiting class came together for the 2018 season," says Morrill. "We addressed some major needs for the program moving forward and we are counting on these individuals to help elevate the program while serving as great representatives to Lynn University."
West Palm Beach, Fla./American Heritage School/Sunrise Soccer Club
Alarcon is a strong midfielder from the American Heritage School who also played for the Sunrise Soccer Club. She adds depth to an area in which the Fighting Knights lost multiple players from last season's squad.
From the Coach: "Breanna will add size and technical ability to our midfield. She has a talent in her deep range passing and possesses the ability to distribute to players higher up the field. She also shows a great understanding of the game coming to us from Sunrise Soccer Club."
Fort Piece, Fla./Fort Pierce Central High School/Space Coast United
Burga arrives at Lynn in the fall from Fort Pierce Central High School and Space Coast United Soccer Club. The incoming freshman is one of three goalies joining the program as the Fighting Knights graduated three-year starter Alexa Downie in 2017.
From the Coach: "Kiara comes to us from a great club environment at Space Coast United. Her ability to catch a ball and hold it, along with a great positional understanding will allow her to secure our goalkeeping needs next fall."
Lecanto, Fla./Trinity Catholic High School/West Florida Flames DA
Connor will join the Fighting Knights in the fall following a successful senior season at Trinity Catholic High School. She racked up seven goals and five assists in 12 games as a senior, and has spent time in the West Florida Flames Development Academy.
From the Coach: "Olivia has been on our recruiting radar for some time, and it has been great to watch her grow the past two years. She carries a lot of upside to her game, as she has been very well coached through her West Florida Flames DA. She will add much needed depth to our back line."
Palm City, Fla./University of North Florida
DiDonato comes to Lynn as a spring transfer after spending the fall at the University of North Florida. The freshman was a four-year starter at South Fork High School, scoring 32 goals with 44 assists in her prep career. She was also a two-year captain in high school before joining UNF.
From the Coach: "Chloe enters Lynn as a spring transfer and brings training experience at the collegiate level. She has a natural left footed ability, which we have lacked within our program, and she has the capacity to win and challenge for balls in the aerial game."
Fort Pierce, Fla./Lincoln Park Academy/Treasure Coast United
Drawdy is a versatile forward that will provide depth at a thin position for the Fighting Knights, as the freshman comes to Lynn following time at Lincoln Park Academy and Treasure Coast United.
From the Coach: "Kayla brings us depth in the forward position and the ability to make smart runs in and behind the back line. She has proven to create a number of chances on goal through the use of her runs and constant work rate."
Fort Myers, Fla./Riverdale High School/Global Premiere Soccer
Gill was a late pickup for the Fighting Knights, as the incoming freshman racked up 23 goals and 11 assists for 57 points as a senior at Riverdale High School. She adds depth to a back line that allowed a conference-high 1.78 goals-against average a season ago.
From the Coach: "Kyla was an exciting pickup for this program late in the recruiting process coming from GPS. She brings a tremendous amount of work rate and athleticism across the back line which will help us strengthen our defensive organization."
Crystal Ayn Hagberg
Stuart, Fla./South Fork High School/Sunrise Soccer Club
Hagberg signs on with Lynn after leading her team in scoring with 60 points in 20 games as a senior. She racked up a team-high 25 goals while adding 10 assists and finished her four-year varsity career with the Bulldogs with 123 points on 44 goals and 35 assists in 76 games.
From the Coach: "Crystal Ayn brings an important sense of calmness to her game while on the ball and is very tidy when keeping possession. Her attributes and abilities will fit well in our playing style heading into the fall."
Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee High School/World Class FC
Harris joins the Fighting Knights after a decorated high school career in which she was named All-League four times, All-Section twice and team MVP twice. She totaled 35 points in 14 games as a senior, scoring 12 goals and adding 11 helpers.
From the Coach: "Tara comes to us from World Class ECNL where she has gained valuable experience in multiple positions across the field. She is a player who we feel confident can help fix problems nearly anywhere on the field for us heading into the fall."
Jupiter, Fla./Keiser University
Lopez comes to Lynn as a spring transfer from nearby Keiser University where she spent the fall semester. She attended Jupiter High School prior to Keiser, as the South Florida native will play her college soccer close to home.
From the Coach: "Gabby comes as a spring transfer and will utilize the spring season to grow as a goalkeeper. She is a good shot stopper and has an extremely high work rate while in the net."
Malmo, Sweden/ProVicitas Malmo
Lundgren comes to Boca Raton from Sweden as a lengthy keeper with strong hands and a nose for the ball. The 5-11 keeper is one of three goalies brought onto the 2018 squad in search of a replacement for three-year starter Alexa Downie.
From the Coach: "Adding Lina to our program was a huge pickup at the goalkeeping position. She comes as the full package. She brings size, hands, athleticism, the ability to organize and a strong playing background from Sweden."
San Jose, Calif./IMG Academy
Rosham comes to Lynn following her time at IMG Academy. She played 15 games during the 2017 season, scoring one goal while starting in 14 of the contests. Roham will add depth to a midfield that has multiple openings for starting positions prior to the 2018 season.
From the Coach: "Parisa was another late addition to this recruiting class that we are excited to have. She possesses the ability to serve as a great playmaker in the middle of the field, and her knowledge and playing experience through IMG Development Academy will serve her well entering her freshman campaign."
Parkland, Fla./Palm Beach Atlantic University
Rojas will play her final season of collegiate soccer with the Fighting Knights following three years at Palm Beach Atlantic from 2014-16. In those three seasons, the midfielder appeared in 43 games with five goals and nine assists.
From the Coach: "Monica will give us a spark on the field as a graduate transfer. She is a fierce competitor and brings a savvy style of play to the offensive side of the game. Her work rate and flair in the midfield will add another dimension to our attack."
