Kansas City, Mo. – Lynn University women's soccer defender Gabriela Moreira was selected to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Second Team, as was announced late Tuesday evening. Moreira becomes the 15th player in program history to garner multiple All-Region accolades.
The Fighting Knights have five selections in the last five years after going without a selection from 2010-13. Donish Henry-Cole (2015 & 2017) was the last two-time All-Region selection while Melissa Ortiz (2008-09) was the last to accomplish this feat in consecutive seasons.
The Los Angeles, Calif., native adds to her list of accolades having already been named a Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference honoree on Oct. 31. Last season Moreira was a Second Team All-SSC and Third Team All-South Region selection.
Lynn's defensive captain helped the squad to three shutouts while holding opponents to 1.88 goals per game in 2018. Moreira was not limited to defense as she tallied three goals and one assist for seven points. Playing from the back, she has contributed nine goals, three assists and 21 points the last two seasons.
The Blue and White ended the season 4-10-2 overall and 2-7-1 in league play. For more information check out LynnFightingKnights.com.
