Melbourne, Fla. - Lynn University swimmer Sarah Hughes has been named the Sunshine State Conference Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. Hughes helped the Fighting Knights to a third-place finish at the SCAD Invitational while turning a pair of NCAA 'B' cut times.
The junior out of Southampton, England led all the way from prelims to the 'A' final of the 400 individual medley, posting an NCAA 'B' cut, and personal-best, time of 4:23.62 to take first place. The time is the third-fastest swam this year in Division II.
Hughes also came through with a second place finish in the 'A' finals 200 breaststroke, clocking in with a NCAA 'B' cut time of 2:19.83, and shined in the 200 IM, posting a 2:06.35 time to finish fourth.
In the relays, Hughes helped the Fighting Knights to fourth-place finish in both the 4x100 freestyle (3:33.12) and the 4x200 medley (1:47.89).
