Norfolk, Va. - Lynn University's swimming program collected its ninth consecutive College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team Award, as announced on Monday. The Fighting Knights were one of 688 teams, representing 430 schools, to garner Scholar All-America team status, the most for a Fall Semester in CSCAA history.
"This is a wonderful achievement for our swimming program and is a testament to the commitment Lynn University's student-athletes have towards their academic and athletic obligations," said head coach Niki Alvarez.
Posting a collective team grade point average of 3.59, the Blue and White were eighth in Division II and tied for 34th in the nation among all NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA institutions. Lynn was also second among the six Sunshine State Conference schools represented for Scholar All-America team recognition.
For a team to be considered, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes.
