Swimming Wraps Up at 2018 NCAA Championships

Greensboro, N.C. – Lynn University swimmers Sarah Hughes and Catalina Berraud-Galea wrapped up the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships on Saturday, competing in the 200-yard breaststroke and 1,650-yard freestyle, respectively.

Berraud-Galea opened the morning with the 1,650 free, posting a time of 17:28.00 to finish in 29th place overall in the preliminaries. The junior missed out on the finals in the event after reaching the top-16 in each of the last two years at the championship meet.

Hughes competed in the 200-yard breaststroke on the final day of competition, finishing 31st with a time of 2:21.08 in the preliminaries.

Saturday concludes the season for the Fighting Knights, as both Berraud-Galea and Hughes competed at the national level for the second year in a row while Berraud-Galea made her third trip to the meet overall. The duo combined for four medals at the Sunshine State Conference Championships in late February, leading Lynn to a fifth-place finish in the SSC.
