Women’s Swimming Announces 2018 Recruiting Class

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Following another great year in the pool, and the departure of two seniors, Lynn University women's swimming coach Niki Alvarez announced her 2018 incoming class.  The Fighting Knights welcome seven swimmers for the 2018-19 season.

"I am very excited about this incoming class because the seven bring much-needed depth and the different events they are able to swim makes the team that much more well-rounded," said Alvarez.

Karolina Smylek
Freshman
Lublin, Poland

Smylek arrives in the United States from Poland and will primarily participate in backstroke events.

"I expect Karolina to come in and make a direct impact on our program as a freshman both within the Sunshine State Conference and nationals.  Her excitement to come to the States to study and swim is unmatched and I look forward to welcoming her to the Fighting Knights family.

Susan Faremouth
Freshman
Marco Island, Fla.

Faremouth is one of three incoming swimmers to hail from the Sunshine State.  As a freshman at Marco Island Academy, she was named the most valuable swimmer while also claiming the Coaches and Leadership awards during her tenure with the Manta Rays.  She will compete in middle distance freestyle as well as butterfly events.

"I see Susan as having a huge upside and a lot of potential. She is a perfect fit for Lynn and I know she looks forward to continuing her career as a Fighting Knight."

Shelby McKeever
Freshman
Melbourne, Fla.

McKeever brings versatility to the program with a strong background in the breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley events at West Shore Junior/Senior High School.

"Shelby is such a versatile swimmer.  Her enthusiastic personality will have a direct impact on the positive environment our team upholds and I look forward to coaching her this fall."

Savanna Suggs
Freshman
Lynn Haven, Fla.

Another swimmer from Florida, Suggs will compete in the breaststroke for the Fighting Knights.  She was a four-year member of the A. Crawford Mosley High School swimming team where she competed in the 50 breast, 100 breast and 200 breast.  Suggs qualified for the short course and long course Southeastern Championship as well as her district and regionals.

"Savanna has a ton of potential to become faster in the breast events.  She comes to us with some of the strongest character recommendations from coaches and administrators I have ever heard. I look forward to working with her and having her represent the Fighting Knights with pride."

Sydney Keefe
Freshman
Caseyville, Ill.

Keefe hails from Illinois where she only began swimming a few years ago at O'Fallon High School and will look to compete in the backstroke.

"Sydney was a perfect fit for Lynn the very first time she stepped on campus. While she only has a few years of competitive swimming experience, her height makes her a perfect fit for the backstroke.  I am eager to get her in the pool to develop her full potential.  She is a swimmer who can make an immediate impact for us."

Corinne Michael
Freshman
St. Louis, Mo.

Michael arrives in Boca from the Show Me state of Missouri.  She brings speed in the shorter freestyle and butterfly events from Visitation Academy.

"Corrine has an opportunity to make a direct impact on the program in her first year.  Her determination coming off an injury will prove to be one of her best attributes and I know her responsiveness to the Lynn coaching staff will benefit her strengths."

Lauren McGee
Freshman
Gwynedd Valley, Pa.

McGee adds depth to both the freestyle and backstroke events after competing at Gwyneed Mercy Academy High School in Pennsylvania.

"The training Lynn can provide Lauren with will improve on her strengths and help develop the technical side to her racing. With our already strong team of backstrokers Lauren will have the perfect training ground for improvement."

Lynn welcomes back 12 letterwinners from a squad which finished fifth at the 2018 Sunshine State Conference Championship, including All-SSC performers Catalina Berraud-Galea and Sarah Hughes.  For more information, check out LynnFightingKnights.com.
