Fort Lauderdale, Fla.- Lynn University's women's tennis team dropped its second Sunshine State Conference match of the season on Monday afternoon. The fifth-ranked Fighting Knights fell 5-4 to Nova Southeastern (11-0, 4-0) who is the No. 10 team in the country.
Lynn had a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Valentine Confalonieri and Rosalie Willig defeated Francesca Sella and Sabrina Kierberg 8-1 at the top spot. Lynn's No. 2 doubles duo of Kim Przeszlowski and Alina Jane fell, 8-2, to Petra Jurva and Irina Constantinide but a 8-5 win by Martina Gledacheva and Carolina Cuevas over Alexandra Johansson and Alex Kaeser put Lynn back on top.
Top-ranked Confalonieiri defeated No. 19 Kierberg in three sets at the No. 1 singles spot. Confalonieri lost the first set 6-4, but battled back two win 6-4 and 6-2 to take the point for the Blue & White. No. 20 Willig lost 6-7, 6-4, 4-6 in her singles match against Jurova and Gledacheva lost her first singles match of the season at the No. 3 spot, 3-6, 4-6, to Sella. Cuevas fell 3-6, 0-6 to Constantinide at the fourth spot but Jane claimed a victory at No. 5 in a 6-3, 7-6 decision. Przeszlowski dropped to Carlee Rizzolo 3-6, 6-7 for the final point of the match.
