Women’s Tennis Bear Hugs NYIT

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's fifth-ranked women's tennis team put an end to No. 13 NYIT's undefeated season with a 6-3 victory on Tuesday afternoon.  Alina Jane came up with the deciding win in singles to improve the Fighting Knights to 12-2 overall.

Jane paired with Kim Przeszlowski to knock off Melanie Benyadi/Alexandr Borgenhoff quickly 8-0 and Vale Confalonieri/Rosalie Willig won 8-6 at No. 1doubles, putting the Blue & White ahead of NYIT (15-1).  A loss at No. 3 doubles brought the score to 2-1 heading into singles play.

Willig took down Benyadi 6-1,6-3 and Confalonieri followed with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Alessia Rossetti. Jane took the court and was able to put the match away with a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles against Gabriela Siembab.  Carolina Cuevaz and Przeszlowski dropped matches at Nos. 3 & 6 singles but Martina Gledacheva ended the night with a 6-4, 7-5 win at the No. 4 position.
