Women’s Tennis Caps Three-Win Weekend over Top-15 Teams

Valdosta, Ga. – Lynn University's fifth-ranked women's tennis squad took care of business in Valdosta, Ga. this weekend, winning all three of its matches over nationally-ranked opponents. The Fighting Knights concluded the road trip on Sunday morning with a 5-0 victory over No. 8 Columbus St.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Martina Gledacheva and Alina Jane got the momentum rolling with a clean 8-0 sweep at No. 3 doubles. 
  • Lynn followed up with another point at No. 2 doubles with an 8-2 victory from Carolina Cuevas and Grace Mpassy.
  • Top-ranked Diana Bogolii and Rosalie Willig gave Lynn the doubles sweep with an 8-3 triumph at the No. 1 match over CSU's 11th-ranked duo of Camila Tobar and Kirsa Utech.
  • The Blue & White needed little from singles action to close out the win.
  • Mpassy blanked 50th-ranked Utech (6-0, 6-0) at No. 3 singles to put Lynn up 4-0. Cuevas handled Saravinder Pannu at the No. 5 spot (6-0, 6-1) for the deciding point.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • All three of the Fighting Knights' wins this weekend came over top-15 teams. Impressively, Lynn dropped only one individual match all weekend.
  • Mpassy won her last two singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 tallies.

UP NEXT:
Lynn will have a bit of time off before returning to its home courts on Wednesday, March 9 for a matchup against Bethune-Cookman at 9 a.m.
