Women’s Tennis Serves Up Sailfish at Home

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's fifth-ranked women's tennis team was in control from start to finish Tuesday evening in a 9-0 sweep over No. 38 Palm Beach Atlantic.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Fighting Knights built an early lead with solid doubles play. 
  • Rosalie Willig and Alina Jane posted their second win as a pair this season, taking the top flight 8-3.
  • Diana Bogolii and Carolina Cuevas triumphed at No. 2 (8-2) while Martina Gledacheva and Grace Mpassy took the No. 3 matchup (8-1).
  • Mpassy picked up her third win in a row at the top singles position, dropping Kathi Tesar in straight sets (6-2, 6-3).
  • After taking the first set at No. 2, Bogolii fell in the second to force a super breaker. The junior bounced back and prevailed, 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.
  • Willig, Cuevas and Gledacheva all posted 6-1, 6-0 victories at three-through-five singles, respectively, while Jane was flopped 6-0, 6-1 at the six spot.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • The Fighting Knights are riding a four-match winning streak, all 8-1 or better including three over nationally-ranked opponents.
  • Gledacheva hasn't taken a singles loss in the past 15 matches.
