Petrackova Claims a Singles Title for Women’s Tennis at Sailfish Invite

West Palm Beach, Fla. – Lynn University's women's tennis team wrapped up a solid opening weekend of play on Sunday at the PBA Sailfish Invitational. Junior Eliska Petrackova was crowned champion of the #2 singles flight.

DOUBLES DRAW:

#1 Doubles Flight

  • Both Fighting Knights doubles pairs this weekend lost their opening match on Friday and wrapped up play in the back draw on Sunday.
  • Petrackova and Anastacia Parkin picked up a win in their second match on Friday, but fell 8-3 to Saint Leo's Furmaniak/Jurkova in Sunday's fifth-place match.
  • Eleonora Liga and Federica Mordegan defeated PBA's Bologay/Reich on Sunday (8-2) to earn seventh place.

#2 Doubles Flight

  • Lynn did not have any pairs in the #2 doubles bracket.

SINGLES DRAW:

#1 Singles Flight

  • Liga started strong in singles action on Saturday with two convincing wins, but settled for second place following a 6-4, 6-3 loss in the championship on Sunday to ASA College's Molly Helgesson.
  • Mordegan battled Saint Leo's Nina Furmaniak in the top singles flight third-place match, but fell in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).

#2 Singles Flight

  • Petrackova capped off a dominant singles performance this weekend with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the championship match on Sunday, taking down Kristyna Jurkova of Saint Leo.
  • Parkin brought home seventh place after defeating PBA's Romina Bolagay on Sunday.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:

  • Petrackova did not lose a set in any of her three singles matches this weekend.
  • Petrackova claimed the first title of her Lynn career.
