Alewine Announced as Lynn Track/Cross Country Assistant Coach

Boca Raton, Fla. Lynn University's track and cross country program, under the tutelage of head coach Chris Wood, has announced the hiring of Erin Alewine as its new full-time assistant coach on Monday afternoon. Alewine comes to Lynn from the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) where she has spent three seasons in an assistant coaching role for the Seawolves.

"When you're trying to build a championship program you need to build it with champions," Wood stated. "Erin is a former national champion and All-American. She's performed at the highest level DII has to offer and will bring that experience to our program here at Lynn."

Alewine's three years of service at UAA include two years as a graduate assistant before transitioning to an assistant position during the 2016-17 season. While with the Seawolves, she was a part of one of the top programs on the Division-II landscape, coaching four NCAA Individual National Champions and a slew of All-Americans. UAA's program has garnered 11 NCAA National Champions, 151 All-Americans, 30 GNAC Team Championships and 129 GNAC Individual Champions in its illustrious history.

She then took a brief hiatus from the coaching ranks in a successful pursuit of becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist of which Alewine earned her official license in October 2018. After obtaining her certification, she most recently served as a volunteer coach at Blair Oaks High School in Wardsville, Mo. during the 2018-19 academic year.

"Coach Alewine has a very diverse background. Not only has she worked with virtually every track event, she is also a Registered Dietician," Wood remarked. "We're always trying to keep the health and fitness of our athletes at the forefront of what we do and she will allow us to operate on all cylinders."

As a student-athlete, the Jefferson City, Mo. native was one of the top multi-eventers in Division II, winning back-to-back NCAA Indoor Pentathlon titles in 2013 and 2014. In her career, Alewine amassed a total of 12 All-America honors and was named the USTFCCA Central Region Field Athlete of the Year in 2013.

Along with being a Registered and Licensed Dietician Nutritionist, Alewine is a 2014 graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health from UAA.
