Volleyball Earns Sixth-Seed at NCAA South Region Tournament

Indianapolis, Ind. - Lynn University's volleyball team earned the sixth-seed at the 2009 NCAA Division II South Region Tournament, as announced on Sunday night.  The Fighting Knights collect their third-straight postseason nod after finishing the regular season 20-11 overall and fifth in the Sunshine State Conference with a 7-9 record.

Seeded sixth, the Blue and White will take on third-seed West Florida (22-12) from the Gulf South Conference on Thursday in the regional quarterfinals hosted by the top-seed University of Tampa.  Lynn defeated the Argonauts 3-2 in the season opener at the UWF Comfort Inn-vitational in August.

The Knights are 1-2 all-time in the NCAA postseason after splitting their matches in 2007 and falling to eventual regional champions Nova Southeastern in the 2008 quarterfinals.

Other matches of the draw include the top-seeded Spartans facing the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Albany State, second-seeded Saint Leo taking on seventh-seed North Alabama and fourth-seeded Eckerd battling fifth-seeded NSU.
