Redwine, Woolard Named AVCA All-Americans

BOCA RATON - Lynn University seniors Lacy Redwine and Devon Woolard have been named AVCA All-Americans as was announced Monday night.  Redwine was a second team selection while Woolard earned third team recognition.

This is the second time that Lynn has had two AVCA All-Americans but Redwine and Woolard are the first Fighting Knights to receive better than honorable mention distinction.

After receiving honorable mention accolades last season, Redwine led the Sunshine State Conference with 649 digs, good for tenth in the nation with a 5.85 per set average.  Her 649 digs broke her own LU single-season record and helped her break the program-record for career digs with 1,914.  Redwine recorded five games with at least 30 digs, including a career-high 35 in a three-set match at Palm Beach Atlantic which was also a season-high for all Division II in a three-setter.  The New Braunfels, Texas, native rounded out her career with First Team All-SSC and NCAA South Region All-Tournament Team honors.

A first time All-America selection, Woolard became the first Fighting Knight to record four-straight 1,000 assists seasons with 1,087.  She also was second on the squad with 283 digs and 23 service aces while her 31 total blocks were sixth on the team.  A Second Team All-SSC selection, Woolard became just the second 1,000/1,000 player in Lynn history with a program-record 4,564 assists and 1,174 digs.  The Delray Beach, Fla., native ranks fourth all-time at Lynn in digs.  Woolard was also recently named an ESPN First Team Academic All-American.

The Fighting Knights finished the season with a 21-10 overall record and a program-best 11-5 mark in the SSC.  It was the fourth-straight season that Lynn recorded at least 20 wins and its fourth-consecutive NCAATournament Appearance.
