Volleyball Stumbles on Senior Night

Lynn University volleyball suffered a 3-1 loss to visiting Rollins College in their last game of the regular season with scores of 22-25, 19-25, 25-20, and 21-25. The Loss came on a special night for the Knights, as they recognized their five seniors. Lynn falls to 5-11 in the SSC while Rollins improved to 9-7. Shannon Dugan and senior Brittany Brown both tallied 12 kills for the home team. Fellow seniors Brianna Cox added 11 kills while Abbey Brokop recorded 38 assists. Senior Libero Michelle Jordan recorded 22 digs and defensive specialist Darian Weppner tallied two service aces for the Blue and White.

LU battled hard in the first set, which saw five lead changes and 14 tied scores. Six kills from Dugan, with three each from Cox and Raffa still couldn't stop the Tars who were able to hold off the Knights to a final of 25-22. Rollins recorded ten kills in the set to Lynn's 16, but crucial attack errors kept the Fighting Knights out of reach.

In the second set, Lynn improved their hit percent to.229 and Brown was three for five on attack attempts. Rollins hit a .250 clip with 15 kills that led them to the 25-19 victory with the help of Camille Indest's .800 attack percent.

The third set the Fighting Knights took the early lead and never turned back. With a match high .379 clip and 11 kills, the Knights were able to fight back and force a fourth set. Brown recorded five kills in the set with a .714 clip. The Tars hit .294 in loss but produced 16 kills and two service aces.

After defeating the Tars down 2-0 in the third set, the Knights continued to battle in hopes of forcing a fifth and final set for their third consecutive game. Unfortunately the five team blocks from Rollins along with their nine kills, kept the Fighting Knights hopes from happening. With seven tie scores and five lead changes, the Knights would eventually fall by four in the final set. Nine digs from Jordan, a game high on either side of the court, couldn't stop Rollins en route to their 25-21 victory to end the match.

Lynn concluded the regular season with an SSC record of 5-11, 15-13 overall. Lynn honored all five seniors, Cox, Weppner, Jordan, Brokop, and Brown before the game in a ceremony recognizing them for their careers as Fighting Knights.
