BOCA RATON, Fla. – After taking down the University of West Alabama 3-1 Saturday morning, the Lynn University volleyball team fought back to force a deciding-fifth game against Valdosta St. in the finale of the Courtyard Boca Raton Invitational, but was unable to complete the comeback inside the de Hoernle Sports and Cultural Center.
Morgan Dulaney's .562 hitting percentage and career-high 19 kills led the Fighting Knights (2-1) to a 25-22, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18 victory over West Alabama (0-2). Lydia West threw down 13 while Claire Angelich chipped in six kills and three blocks.
In the tournament finale, Lynn found itself down 2-0 (20-25, 18-25) to the Blazers (3-0) before rallying back into the match with wins in the third and fourth (25-21, 25-15). VSU jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the fifth to anchor a 15-12 victory.
West and Dulaney both led the attack again for Lynn with 14 kills apiece, followed by Angelich and Cristina Llorens with 13 each. Setter Marissa Tandron finished the day with a combined 76 assists, while Katie Knight turned in two 20-plus dig performances.
