Volleyball Starts Strong in Sweep over Tech

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's volleyball team was in control of the court from start to finish on Friday night as the Fighting Knights recorded a 3-0 sweep over Florida Tech in Sunshine State Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Set 1 | Cristina Llorens fueled an 8-0 run from the service line to give Lynn an early advantage. Lydia West put down four kills to bring home a 25-14 first-set win.
  • Set 2 | After another early Lynn lead, the Panthers made a push to cut the deficit to two (16-14). The Blue & White offense then collectively regained the momentum with a string of four kills to go up 2-0 in the match.
  • Set 3 | Jayden Davila-McClary served up two aces as part of a 6-0 run that would open up a 21-9 advantage. Claire Angelich put down four kills in the final frame to help close out the sweep.
STAT OF THE GAME:
  • Llorens was the top performer on both sides of the ball, registering a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs.
  • West followed up with nine kills on a solid .375 hitting clip and added a block.
  • Angelich recorded the only solo block for the Fighting Knights and tallied eight kills.
  • Katie Knight was the only other Lynn defender to pick up double-digit digs.
  • Knight, Davila-McClary and Llorens each contributed three aces to Lynn's 11 total in the match.
  • Marissa Tandron distributed 35 assists.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
  • Over the past four seasons, the Fighting Knights have gone 4-0 over the Panthers at home, but are 0-4 when on the road at Florida Tech.
  • Llorens tallied her second consecutive double-double and her fourth on the season.
  • Tandron tied her three-set match season-high assist total for the third time this month.

The Fighting Knights return to their home court tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 31 for a 4 p.m. matchup with 17th-ranked Florida Southern.
