Volleyball Secures AVCA Team Academic Honors

Lexington, Ky. – Under first-year head coach Adam Milewski, Lynn University's volleyball team has received the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 11th consecutive year. The AVCA announced 764 teams to receive the Team Academic Award for the 2015-2016 season, breaking the 2014-2015 record of 757 programs.

"I'm very proud of the hard work that the ladies have put in the classroom this year," Milewski said. "Lynn University continues to provide a great environment for student-athletes to achieve academic excellence."

The award honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams displaying great academic achievements across the country. To be awarded, the team needs to maintain a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale during the academic year.

The Fighting Knights posted a 3.44 GPA for the academic year, joining 118 other Division II honorees, which included seven teams from the Sunshine State Conference. The team's honor comes in addition to individual CoSIDA Academic All-District nods from Marissa Tandron and Claire Angelich during the season.

There are 11 returners that played for a 14-15 overall record and a 4-12 conference mark in 2015 and will be joined by five newcomers for the upcoming season. The Blue & White will launch the 2016 campaign at the Nova Southeastern Invitational beginning on Sept. 2.
