Tandron Tabbed D2CCA First Team All-South Region

Florence, Ala. – Representatives from all three conferences in the region were among the 15 student-athletes named to the 2016 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association All-South Region Volleyball Team announced Tuesday morning. Senior Marissa Tandron represents Lynn University with her first career all-region honor as a first-team selection.

Tandron garners the first D2CCA (formerly Daktronics) First Team All-South Region accolade for the Fighting Knights since Camila Lins secured the honor in 2008. Briana Cox's second-team selection in 2012 was the most recent for the Blue and White.

She was also a First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection and became just the third student-athlete in Lynn's history to be chosen as a three-time CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree.

The Jacksonville, Fla. native is having a career year this season as a senior, breaking the school's 15-year-old single-season assist record with 1,326 and counting. Tandron leads the SSC and ranks 10th in the nation in total assists while also topping the league and ranking 14th in the country in assists per set. She has notched over 60 assists in a match on two occasions this season, including a career-high 65 at Eckerd that ties for the fourth-most in program history.

North Alabama's Natasha Fomina earned Player of the Year honors. The Lions added a pair of second-team selections while Palm Beach Atlantic and West Florida also each produced three members on the team.

Fomina was also named the 2016 Gulf South Conference Player of the Year and was on the GSC all-tournament team after the Lions won the title. She joins Sarah Ragland (Palm Beach Atlantic) and Monique StCyr (West Florida) as return players from the 2015 all-region team.

West Florida was the only school to produce two first-team selections, with outside hitter Corisha Smith and middle Kathryn Torre joining Fomina and Ragland. Rounding out the first team is Tampa's Allee Stelogeannis and Saint Leo's Jamee Townsend.

First team selections will be eligible for the D2CCA All-America teams, which will be released on Dec. 6.

Due to ties in voting, the second team features two setters. Voting is conducted by the region's sports information directors.
