Volleyball Secures Four Transfers for 2017

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University's head volleyball coach Adam Milewski has announced the addition of four incoming transfer players to round out the 2017 recruiting class. Angala Jensen, Marcella De Vuono, Alessia Di Rosa and Rafaela Fonseca will all bring valuable experience to the Fighting Knights squad this fall.

"I'm extremely excited to add Angala, Marcella, Alessia and Rafa to an already talented 2017 class," Milewski stated. "The four incoming transfer players bring immediate college-level experience to the roster. Their work ethic on and off the court will continue to push us in a forward direction."

Angala Jensen
Sophomore | Setter
Colorado Springs, Colo. / Montana State University Billings

Jensen comes to Boca Raton with a year's worth of Division II experience under her belt, playing all 30 matches and 115 sets as a true freshman last season at Montana State University Billings. The Colorado native finished the year with 995 assists, ranking eighth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference at 8.65 per set. She recorded seven double-doubles on the year and posted a triple-double against Western Oregon, logging 10 kills, 37 assists and 14 digs. Jensen originally hails from Manitou Springs High School where she led the Mustangs to four consecutive state finals and was a three-time all-conference selection.

From the Coach: "Angala has already shown the ability to run a high-level offense in a competitive conference. Her touch on the ball and decision making are sure to put our hitters in great positions to be successful. Angala plays with intensity and fire and we love that."

Marcella De Vuono
Sophomore | Middle Blocker
Sao Paulo, Brazil / Florida Atlantic University

At 6-foot-3, De Vuono will help fill the big shoes left in the middle from the 2016 graduating class. The middle blocker comes to Lynn from neighboring Florida Atlantic University where she was a part of the Owls' squad during her inaugural campaign. De Vuono saw success in the classroom during her freshman year, earning the FAU All-American Academic Certificate as well as a spot on the Dean's List. Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, De Vuono completed high school at The Oakridge School in Arlington, Texas, where she was an All-North Zone volleyball player for three straight years.

From the Coach: "Marcella is a great kid. Her intelligence and athleticism will give her an opportunity to make an impact right away. I was really impressed with her spacing and transition. It will surely make her an instant offensive threat. I'm excited to get a chance to work with her and can't wait to see her in the blue and white."

Alessia Di Rosa
Sophomore | Setter
Stuttgart, Germany / Radford University

Di Rosa brings Division I experience to the Blue and White and will compete with Jensen for time as the team's primary setter. She spent her freshman year at Radford University with the Big South Conference regular season champions. A native of Stuttgary, Germany, Di Rosa has club experience playing in German national tournaments and was a member of the 2015 summer Czech national team.

From the Coach: "Alessia will be a fantastic fit here at Lynn. Her personality, volleyball skills, drive and ability to communicate are profound. She has a smooth release on the ball, but more importantly, has shown the desire and ability to lead."

Rafaela Fonseca
Junior | Outside Hitter
Belo Horizonte, Brazil / College of Central Florida

The most decorated player in Lynn's 2017 recruiting class, Fonseca joins the Fighting Knights via the College of Central Florida, reuniting with former CF head coach and newly appointed Lynn assistant, Flavia Siqueria. Fonseca is coming off a stellar sophomore season where she helped lead the Lady Patriots to their sixth-straight conference title and a No. 1 state ranking for five consecutive weeks. She wrapped up the awards season as an NJCAA First Team All-American, an AVCA First Team All-American, the Mid-Florida Conference Player of the Year and the FCSAA Player of the Year. The first team all-state and all-conference selection finished the season ranked inside the top 10 in total kills (322), recording eight double-doubles along the way.

From the Coach: "Rafa is a special player. Her length, volleyball IQ, ball control and overall game has been impressive to see at the Junior College level. Rafa has shown a genuine love for the game and desire to be successful. I'm thrilled that she's now a Fighting Knight."
