Women’s Cross Country Lands in USTFCCCA Preseason Regional Rankings

New Orleans, La. – For the first time in program history, the Lynn University women's cross country team has made its way into the top 10 of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region rankings, landing at No. 8 in the preseason poll.

The Fighting Knights finished 14th at the NCAA South Region Championships a season ago and return 15 runners from the 2017 squad. All-Region and All-Sunshine State Conference runner Alexandra Jones is the top returner for the Blue and White, while head coach Chris Wood welcomes nine new runners to the 2018 roster.

The SSC makes up half of the South Region's top 10, as Embry-Riddle checks in as the No. 2 team in the region while Saint Leo (No. 4), Florida Southern (No. 5) and Tampa (No. 6) also appear in the poll.

The Fighting Knights open the 2018 season on Friday evening at South County Park in Boca Raton as they compete in the FAU Invitational. Race time is slated for 6 p.m.
