NEW ORLEANS – Lynn University's men's and women's cross country teams were both honored by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Thursday afternoon, garnering All-Academic status for the 2018 campaign. The men's program compiled a combined 3.2 GPA for the Fall 2018 semester while the women earned a combined 3.27 GPA.
This is the first award for the men's program in its first official season of competition while the women's team has earned recognition for the second consecutive year.
"We had a great semester," head coach Chris Wood commented, "posting six 4.0's for the women and a handful of our men had GPAs 3.6 and above. We've got a very mature group of student-athletes."
Of the nine schools which participate in cross country in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), the Blue and White are one of five programs which received men's and women's All-Academic accolades.
Lynn turns its focus to the track season, which is approaching quickly, and its first competition on Feb. 23 at the Ansin Sports Complex, hosted by Nova Southeastern in Miramar, Fla.
