MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Lynn University men's swim team visited Florida Tech on Friday afternoon in their third meet of the 2022 season. The men entered the day with a 1-1 record, and ended the meet at 1-2 following a 166-96 loss. The men placed first in five events, and second place in five events, including earning second in two team events.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Senior
Malek Masmoudi placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:57.87. Masmoudi (4:49.99) also placed third in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.98)
- Graduate student
Julian Chan Quee Lin posted first in the 100-yard freestyle (48.89), and 200-yard freestyle (1:43.79). Chan Quee Lin also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a finishing time of 21.64
- Sophomore
Kamil Piotrowicz (57.16) earned the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke, while senior
Ignacio Alvarez (1:00.25) was third. Piotrowicz (2:12.01) placed second in the 200 backstroke

Georgi Tsurev's time of 1:59.35 was good for first in the 200-yard backstroke, while his time of 54.27 was third in the 100 backstroke. Junior
Mike Sickels (55.35) placed fourth in the 100-back
- In the second event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Tsurev, Masmoudi, Piotrowicz and senior
Dalton Brown (1:36.41) placed second. Sickels, Alvarez, sophomore
Owen Pogwist, and senior
David Romeo (1:40.06) placed fourth in the same event. Brown (22.15) was also third in the 50-yard free
- In the day's final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the quartet of Alvarez, Tsurev, Chan Quee Lin, and Brown placed second with a time of 3:10.80. Freshman

Brad Jacobs, sophomore
Owen Pogwist, and junior
Ben Katzbeck (3:26.89) placed fifth in the 400-free. Jacobs (1:51.10) placed sixth in the 200-free, while Katzbeck (1:56.72) was behind him in seventh
