MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Lynn University women's swim team, ranked 16th in the country leading into Friday's meet at Florida Tech, emerged victorious by a score of 166-96.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn took the top two spots in the first event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay. The team of graduate students
Karolina Smylek,
Claudia Porta,
Helga Fodor, and junior
Kynda Green (1:47.23), took first place, while the group of sophomores
Laura Dekoninck,
Mathilde Bartolini, and seniors
Luna Mertins and Shachaf Bachar (1:48.59) finished second. Fodor and Mertins also placed first and second in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 23.96 and 24.31, while Dekoninck (52.12) and Fodor (52.99) took the top two spots in the 100-yard freestyle
- In the next-to-last event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Dekoninck, Green, Bachar, and Bartolini (3:35.95) took first place
- The Fighting Knights took the third and fourth spots in the 1000-yard freestyle, as freshman
Trisha Filimoehala (11:38.05) finished third and sophomore
Olivia Sherlock (11:42.88) finished fourth
- Fodor, Bachar, and Green placed first (1:53.72), second (1:56.79), and fourth (2:00.64) in the 200-yard freestyle
- Dekoninck (58.04), led the pack in the 100-yard backstroke, while Smylek (58.34) finished second and junior
Olivia Flack (1:02.33) placed fifth
- Porta (1:07.16), Bartolini (1:08.92), and Fredman (1:10.26) earned the top three times in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200 breaststroke (2:29.45, 2:31.30, 2:33.73)

Julia Delaney (2:20.69), and
Amy Evans (2:20.88), took second and third in the 200-yard butterfly. Evans also finished fourth (2:21.91) in the 200-meter individual medley
- Smylek was first in the 200-yard backstroke in 2:09.81, and first in the 100-yard butterfly (59.68)
- Bachar (5:16.55) took first place in the 500-yard freestyle, while Green (5:26.62) placed third and Delaney (5:30.75) placed fourth

Sophie Fredman (2:16.18) finished second in the 200-yard individual medley, and
Katie Ottaviano (2:30.10) finished fifth
