LAKELAND, Fla. – The 16
th-ranked Lynn University women's swimming team posted a 140-122 win over No. 10 Florida Southern, Saturday.
The Fighting Knights have now opened Sunshine State Conference action with three-straight wins that included Saturday's upset of the Moccasins.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Lynn cruised to two relay wins and eight individual victories

Karolina Smylek were undefeated on the day
- Smylek and Mertins, along with
Claudia Porta and
Laura Dekoninck opened the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:47.65
- Meanwhile, the foursome of Mertins, Fodor, senior
Shachaf Bachar and sophomore
Mathilde Bartolini won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:34.57
- Individually, Fodor was a perfect 3-for-3 with wins in the 50 (24.07), 100 (52.12) and the 200-yard freestyles (1:52.44)
- Smylek won both the 100 (59.31) and 200 backstroke (2:11.88)
- Mertins took home wins in the 100 (56.74) and 200 butterfly (56.74)
- Porta picked up the victory in the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.17 and was second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.38
- Dekoninck swam to a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 freestyle (54.25) and the 100 backstroke (59.48)
- In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Bartolini was second in 11:00.68 and she later added third place in the 50 freestyle in 25.30. She was fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.82)

Sophie Fredman finished in second place in the 200-yard IM in 2:16.09 and fourth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.37
