DAVIE, Fla. - The Lynn University men's and women's swimming team combined for 13 top five finishes in a quad meet at Nova Southeastern on Friday afternoon.
The Lynn men's swimming team fell 206-54 to No. 15 Nova Southeastern, 195-66 to No. 14 West Chester and 201-60 to Indian River State College, while the women lost to No. 3 Nova Southeastern (180-80), No. 8 West Chester (180-80) and Indian River State College (144-117).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Graduate student Helga Fodor won the 50 freestyle (23.95) and added a second place finish in the 100 freestyle (51.06)
- Senior Luna Mertins placed second in both the 100 (56.37) and 200 (2:04.85) butterfly
- Mertins also placed fourth in the 200 yard IM (2:10.82)
- Sophomore Laura Dekoninck finished third in the 100 yard backstroke (59.04), while adding a sixth place finish in the 50 yard freestyle (24.83)
- Graduate student Claudia Porta took sixth place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:07.11)
- Porta, along with teammates Dekoninck, Porta and Mertins, placed third in the 200 yard medley relay (1:47.43)
- Dekoninck, Fodor, senior Shachaf Bachar and junior Kynda Green added a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay (1:38.88)
- Sophomore Georgi Tsurev had a trio of 5th place finishes, including the 100 (52.47) and 200 (1:55.62) backstroke
- Tsurev, along with sophomore Kamil Piotrowicz, senior Malek Masmoudi and graduate student Julian Chan Quee Lin finished fifth in the 200 yard medley relay (1:35.33)
- Masmoudi added fifth place in the 500 freestyle (4:47.52) and sixth place in the 1000 freestyle (9:58.23)
- Piotrowicz took sixth place in both the 100 (59.91) and 200 (2:16.94) breaststroke
- Chan Quee Lin finished in seventh in the 200 freestyle (1:46.90)

- The men and women return home to the McCusker Pool Complex for a noon meet against Florida Tech tomorrow.
