BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men's and women's swimming teams each posted a victory over visiting Florida Tech, Saturday at a chilly McCusker Pool Complex.
The women dominated the Panthers to the tune of 168-94 and the win is the fourth Sunshine State Conference victory. Meanwhile, the Fighting Knight men downed the Panthers, 157-105, for their first SSC win of the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knight teams combined to win 23 of the meet's 27 events
- The Lynn women accounted for 12 wins and the men capped the afternoon with 11
- Lynn also posted a total of eight second-place finishes
- Both teams set the stage for the afternoon by opening the meet with wins in the 200-yard medley relay

- Individually, 12 different swimmers took captured a win
- Mertins and Masmoudi powered the women's and men's teams, respectively, with three wins each
- Mertins won the 100 butterfly (58.30), 200 freestyle (1:58.39) and the 200 backstroke (2:09.44)
- Masmoudi captured victories in the 200 freestyle (1:43.51), 500 freestyle (4:40.96) and the 200 IM (1:59.67)
- Bachar, Porta, Fodor and Chan Quee Lin posted two wins each
- Bachar won the 500 (5:23.89) and 1,000 freestyles (11:03.13), Chan Quee Lin won the 50 (21.84) and 100 freestyles (48.19), Porta captured victory in the 100 (1:09.07) and 200 breaststrokes (2:32.42), while Fodor won the 100 backstroke (58.75) and the 100 freestyle (53.12)

- Sophomore
Mathilde Bartolini, Tsurev, Dekoninck, Piotrowicz and Alvarez each collected a win and a runner-up showing
- Tsurev won the 100 butterfly (52.71) and took second in the 100 backstroke (54.16)
- Bartolini won the 100 breaststroke (1:11.34) and finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:34.59)
- Piotrowicz touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.88) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:18.37)
- Alvarez won the 200 breaststroke (2:12.20) and finished in second in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.19)
- Dekoninck captured the victory in the 50 freestyle (25.23) and was second in the 100 freestyle (55.89)
- Junior
Mike Sickels rounded out the individual wins with a victory in the 200 backstroke at 1:58.96
