BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men's and women's swimming teams opened the home portion of their 2023-24 schedule on Friday with a Sunshine State Conference showdown with Florida Tech. The 14
th-ranked Fighting Knight women defeated the Panthers 174-84, while the Lynn men lost to No. 23 Florida Tech 148-114.
The Fighting Knights combined for 15 wins on the afternoon and 14 runner-up showings.
HOW IT HAPPANED (Women):

Luna Mertins,
Laura Dekoninck and
Sasha Giourtzidou each posted two individual wins
- Dekoninck added two more wins in the relays
- The 200 medley relay of
Caterina Momi,
Malaika Schneider,
Luna Mertins and
Laura Dekoninck opened the meet with first place in 1:46.68
- Mertins won the 100 freestyle (53.14) and 100 butterfly (57.77) and took runner-up in the 200 freestyle (1:57.56)
- Dekoninck was a perfect 2-for-2 in her individual events winning both the 100 backstroke (58.27) and 50 freestyle (24.52)
- Giourtzidou was also perfect in her events taking home wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:25.87) and 400 IM (4:40.84)

Shachaf Bachar captured a win in the 200 freestyle (1:57.17) and second place in the 500 freestyle (5:25.42)
- Momi posted a victory in the 200 backstroke (2:08.58) and was second in the 100 backstroke (58.77)
- Schneider won the 100 breaststroke (1:06.20) and finished in second in the 100 freestyle (54.18)

Julia Delaney won the 1,000 freestyle in 11:07.38 and added third in the 200 butterfly at 2:16.95

Amy Evans took second in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.93

Claudia Porta grabbed runner-up in the 200 breaststroke (2:29.89) and third in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.25)

Olivia Flack grabbed a pair of third-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (25.09) and 100 freestyle (54.80)
- The 200 freestyle relay team of Dekoninck, Schneider, Flack and
Katie Laferriere closed the afternoon with a win in 1:37.66
HOW IT HAPPENED (Men):

Max Tsyfarov,
Lincoln Greseth and
Ryan Zasas each earned a win against the nationally-ranked Panthers
- Masmoudi won the 1,000 freestyle (9:50.44) and took second in the 500 freestyle (4:44.40) and third in the 100 freestyle (47.24)
- Tsyfarov grabbed a win in the 200 freestyle (1:42.63) and posted runner-up in both the 100 butterfly (50.54) and 100 freestyle (46.49)

Lincoln Greseth finished with a victory in the 400 IM (4:17.68) and was third in the 500 freestyle (4:45.35) and 200 freestyle (1:46.35)

Ryan Zasas posted first place in the 100 breaststroke in 57.55 and third in the 200 breaststroke at 2:08.97

Conor Dunne earned a pair of runner-up finishes in the 400 IM (4:27.65) and the 1,000 freestyle (9:56.66)

Kamil Piotrowicz finished in second place in the 200 breaststroke at 2:07.90 and third in the 100 breaststroke at 57.86

Maurice Grabowski added second in the 50 freestyle (21.76) and
Jack Budd was second in the 200 backstroke (1:59.30)
- The 200 medley relay team of Grabowski, Piotrowicz, Tsyfarov and

Mike Sickels finished in third place in the 200 backstroke at 2:05.48, while
Russell Hart was third in the 400 IM at 4:31.83
- The 200 freestyle relay of Sickels, Dunne, along with
Alexander Fiola and
Aiden Allen were third place in 1:28.18
