Fighting Knight tennis wins in hard-fought season opener

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.- The Lynn University men's tennis team rallied for a 4-3 victory over (RV) St. Thomas on Tuesday afternoon behind Smaran Rangarajan's clutch No. 6 singles win in a third deciding set against Jan Gewaltig (6-2, 5-7, 10-5).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Lynn took two of the three doubles matches, ultimately earning the doubles point.
  • Davide Cortimiglia and Lennart Ostheimer defeated William Rosencrantz and Leon Emich in No. 1 doubles, 6-1.
  • The duo of Aymen Alimoussa and Aaron Brandenburger took the No. 2 doubles over Giacome Nava and Arthur Bugeaud, 6-4.
  • Both Lynn and STU earned three singles match wins at an equal 3-3.
  • Alimoussa won over Fabrizio Moreno in No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-2).
  • Ostheimer claimed his first singles win for the Blue and White with a 6-4, 6-2 win over William Rosencrantz in the second flight.
  • In his first singles match for Lynn, Rangarajan won the deciding point in a three-set battle, ultimately defeating Gewaltig in the sixth flight, 6-2, 5-7, 10-5.
