Men’s Tennis picks up dominant win over Edinboro

BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Lynn men's tennis team put together an all-around dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, downing Edinboro in a 6-1 decision.
 
Following the victory, Lynn improved to 5-3 on the year while Edinboro fell to 2-4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Fighting Knights nearly had a sweep in doubles competition, taking two-of-three to earn the doubles point.
  • Alessio Demichelis and Davide Cortimiglia defeated Rocco Palombarini and Leon Grassnickel in the one spot, 6-4.
  • Aymen Alimoussa and Santino Morel picked up the second doubles victory in the second flight, downing Stanislas Noel and Fabricio Sosa Pons, 6-2.
  • Alimoussa and Morel improved to 2-1 on the year in the second spot.
  • The team of Lennart Ostheimer and Aaron Brandenburger fell in a tightly-contested 7-5 decision against Nils Weskamp and Guillermo Rodriguez.
  • Demichelis claimed the first point in singles competition, defeating Mathis Amsellem in the first flight, 6-2, 6-2.
  • Demichelis has been on a tear since joining the Blue and White in mid-February winning all three of his bouts in the number one spot thus far.
  • Morel fell in a hard-fought contest against Noel in the second flight, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4.
  • Alimoussa earned a comeback singles victory in the third spot, surging past Thomas Buchard, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.
  • Alimoussa improved to 2-0 in the third slot, while he moved up to 5-3 in singles competition.
  • Lennart Ostheimer made quick work of Fabricio Sosa Pons in the fourth flight, 6-2, 6-0.
  • Davide Cortimiglia took down Palombarini in the fifth spot, 6-3, 6-3, to move up to 4-1 in singles play.
  • Smaran Rangarajan finished off the day for Lynn, defeating Guillermo Rodriguez in the sixth flight, 6-4, 6-7, 10-5.
