BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Lynn University men's tennis team dropped a heart-breaking Sunshine State Conference match to No. 14 Florida Southern, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon. Despite taking an early lead with wins in doubles competition, the Mocs edged out the Fighting Knights by claiming a few late victories in singles action to secure the tight-knit victory.
Lynn is now 8-4 on the year and 2-3 in SSC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Fighting Knights captured the first and second flight in doubles for the first team point
- The pair of
Davide Cortimiglia and
Alessio Demichelis locked down No. 1 doubles with a 6-3 victory over Chris Fok Kow and Mario Garoz
- The duo is now 3-0 in doubles action, winning all three matches in the top spot

Aymen Alimoussa and
Santino Morel secured the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over Bosko Boskovic and Gabriel Jornert in the second flight
- The pair have won four matches together in the spring playing in the No. 2 position
- Cortimiglia claimed the first win for the Blue and White in singles action, posting a 6-4, 7-6 win over Boskovic in the No. 5 spot.
- Cortimiglia is 6-1 in singles action this season, achieving three wins the fifth flight

Daniel Azar defeated Edoardo Melindo in a battle in the sixth flight, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4
- Azar has won three of his last four singles bouts; he is 5-3 on the season overall
- Lynn fell in the first, second, third and fourth flights in singles competition to drop to match, despite putting up a hard-fought effort
