Big Night Puts Swimming in Second at SCAD Invite 

Savannah, Ga. - Lynn University's swimming team put up big times on the opening night of the SCAD Invitational and is in second place out of seven teams.  Ten personal records were set along with six top-10 finishes for the Fighting Knights.

  • Lynn picked up 130 points on the first day of the three-day event and holds a half-point lead over Emory University.  Wingate has the overall lead with 342 points. 

  • The night started with a fifth place finish for the 200 medley relay 'A' team of Karolina Smylek, Sarah Hughes, Clara Monges and Laia Coma.  The squad tapped the wall in 1:46.92.  The 'B' team of Anita Field, Grace ArmitSarah Nichols and Alyson Currao placed 13th (1:51.02) and the 'C' team of Lauren McGee, Shelby McKeever, Susan Faremouth and Tatiana St. Juste swam a time of 1:58.08. 

  • Berraud-Galea posted the best finish in the 500 free, taking 7th at 5:03.28 

  • Hughes and Smylek logged top-10 finishes in the 200 individual medley.  Hughes swam a time of 2:07.19 while Smylek was clocked at 2:09.37. 

  • Currao took flight for the Fighting Knights in the 50 free, swimming the fastest time of her career (24.77) to finish 12th. 

  • Lynn's final two top-10 finishes came in the 800 Free relay.  The 'A' squad of Nichols, Monges, Faremouth and Berraud-Galea swam a time of 7:50.85 to place sixth while the 'B' team of KhachaArmit, Katie Tiell and Field tapped the wall in 8:06.24 to finish sixth. 


  • Lynn was one of two teams to place three swimmers within the top-14 of the 200 IM. 

  • Berraud-Galea's 500 free time was a season-best.  Faremouth (5:15.37) and Aliah Maginley (5:36.32) posted personal-record times. 

  • Hughes swam the seventh-fastest 200 IM time of her career but four members of the Blue and White set PRs: Smylek, Samar Khacha (2:10.40), McKeever (2:27.21) and Savann Suggs (2:29.32) 

  • Not only was Currao's 50 free time a personal-best but it was the top-time for Lynn this season.  Field (26.30), Sydney Keefe (27.10) and McGee (27.47) also swam PRs with Nichols (25.18) and St. Juste (25.93) clocking in season-best times.
