Luke Emmerling joined the Lynn University men's and women's swimming programs as an assistant coach in June 2026, bringing a strong background in collegiate and club-level coaching. With three years of NCAA Division II coaching experience and eight years working with age-group swimmers, Emmerling has developed a reputation for helping athletes achieve success at every level of competition.
Prior to arriving at Lynn, Emmerling spent three seasons on the coaching staff at his alma mater, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP), where he worked primarily with the sprint freestyle and stroke groups. During his tenure, the program produced 10 combined school records, eight All-America honors, and three conference MVP award winners.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Emmerling spent three years as the National Team and Developmental Coach for the Indiana YMCA. During his tenure, he coached an individual national champion and a national runner-up while guiding swimmers to five individual and two relay Pennsylvania High School State Championship performances. Prior to joining the Indiana YMCA, Emmerling spent five years coaching with Lancaster Aquatic Club and the Bent Creek Country Club swim teams, developing swimmers at the age-group level and helping athletes progress through the competitive ranks.
A former standout swimmer at IUP, Emmerling was a five-year member of the men's swimming team from 2018-23 and served as a team captain for three seasons from 2021-23. As captain, he played an active role in recruiting, leadership initiatives, and fundraising efforts. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology, an MBA, and a Master of Science in Sport Management from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
