Michael Donellan is in his first year as the Director of Athletic Performance/Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Lynn University after being hired in the spring of 2024 from a national search.

Donellan came to Boca Raton from San Jose State University where he served as an athletic performance coach from 2023-24. He designed and implemented strength, conditioning and speed training programs for the Spartan baseball, softball, women’s soccer and women’s tennis programs.

Prior to SJSU, Donellan worked with the Norfolk Tides (MiLB AAA) as an assistant strength & conditioning coach in the spring and summer of 2023. He helped with the programming and administration of individualized warm-up, strength, speed and recovery training programs for 40 players.

A native of Dumont, N.J., Donellan was an olympic strength & conditioning assistant at the University of Miami (Fla.) leading the strength and conditioning training of the cheer and dance athletes, while assisting with the baseball, women’s soccer, rowing and swimming & diving programs.

Donellan started his professional career at Texas State University as a graduate assistant in 2021 before being promoted to intern where he worked with the softball, women’s basketball, golf and track & field programs. Following TSU, he interned at the University of Texas and implemented strength programs for rowing, volleyball, swimming and cheer.

He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas State.
