Chad Beattie began working at Lynn University in December 2004 as sports information director. He was promoted to director of emerging media & athletic communications in June 2016 and named an Assistant Athletics Director for Communications & Digital Strategy on Feb. 12, 2018. His responsibilities have grown with the ever-changing social & digital media landscape and during his tenure with the Fighting Knights, not only has he overseen the traditional public relations and statistical side but Beattie has helped Lynn become a leader in multi-media communications.
While he oversees strategic communications and media relations for all of the Fighting Knights' 14 intercollegiate athletic programs, Beattie works directly with men's & women's soccer, women's swimming, softball and men's & women's golf.
In his time working at Lynn, he has been a leading force in bringing the athletic department into the digital age. Under Beattie's direction, Lynn became one of the first institutions in the Sunshine State Conference to offer free video streaming and later one of the first to provide full HD streams. These efforts led to the launch of the Lynn Sports Network in 2016, a digital platform which allows the university to provide the best possible streaming experience with multi-camera angles, in-game highlights, interviews and content, half-time and postgame interviews with coaches and players and in-depth analysis from play-by-play and color commentators. He also has assisted the SSC in developing a conference-wide digital media platform starting in 2017.
In addition, he has been a driving voice in the integration of social media into the Fighting Knights daily operations. Lynn has ranked among the top-40 in the nation for NCAA Division II athletics in social media.
Beattie has presided over two redesigns of Lynn University's official athletic website but, most recently, was instrumental in the redevelopment of LynnFightingKnights.com to a Prestosports site.
In 2012, he helped develop the University's athletics branding and social media initiative while assisting in the signing of a licensing deal with the License Resource Group (LRG).
Beattie currently serves as the Daktronics South Region Coordinator for both men's soccer and baseball and has had the privilege of working with five national championship teams: 2009 Baseball, 2012 Men's Soccer, 2013 & 2014 Women's Golf and 2014 men's soccer.
Beattie worked in the sports information department at Florida Atlantic University for three years prior to joining the Blue and White. At FAU his primary responsibilities were to publicize the men's and women's soccer, golf and cross-country teams while assisting with football and women's basketball. During his tenure with the Owls, he oversaw the 2002 Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Soccer Championships and 2003 A-Sun Women's Soccer Championships and was a major contributor during the football team's 2003 playoff run.
Beattie also worked for the communications department of the Florida Panthers during the 2002-2003 hockey season, assisting in the development of the team's programs, media guides and website content. Beattie got his start in South Florida athletics working for MatchPoint Inc. and the International Tennis Championships in Delray Beach, Fla.
A graduate of FAU with a M.B.A. in Sport Management in 2005, he earned his B.S. in public relations and sports management from Florida State University in 2001. He began his career in athletics as an intern with the Seminoles athletic marketing department before moving over to the FSU sports information department.
Born in Pontiac, Mich., Beattie grew up in Boca Raton, Fla., where he currently resides. Married to the former Kelly Rykowski, the couple has two daughters, Lily and Ava. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and their dog Eddie, playing golf, watching sports and movies and reading.
