Lynn University

Amy Bellisari

Amy Bellisari

Amy Bellisari was named Lynn University’s head softball coach on August 3, 2011, becoming the fifth head coach in program history.  The Boca Raton, Fla., native has retooled the program and in 2016 she became the longest-tenured head coach in program history.

Bellisari has seen her team post three 20+ win seasons during her time at the helm, highlighted by a 2017 season in which her squad posted the most victories at Lynn since 2004 and most Sunshine State Conference wins since 2003.

Bellisari has restocked the Blue & White talent pool and that is evident by the program’s eight All-SSC and two All-South Region selections.  Additionally, the softball program garnered 16 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholars.

There were baby steps to be taken after a first year in which the team won only two games but Bellisari engineered a 17-win turnaround in her second season, the fourth-largest improvement among all NCAA Division II programs in the nation and later moved the team to a pair of 20+-win seasons.  Her overall record stands at 105-186-1 and she is 39-104-1 in league play.

She returned to her hometown after serving as the assistant softball coach at NCAA Division I Bethune-Cookman for four years.  After the first season in which the Wildcats won 22 games, Bellisari helped lead the team to a runner-up finish in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in 2009.  BCU then made the leap to conference champions by winning back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011.

Prior to her time in Daytona Beach, Fla., Bellisari served as the graduate assistant at Ohio University for two seasons (2005-06).

A four-year letterwinner at Florida Atlantic University (2001-04), Bellisari had the honor to play for legendary head coach Joan Joyce who has won over 800 games, won 10 conference titles, made 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and ben selected coach of the year six times in her career.

During her time with the Owls, her squads went 208-80 overall with four league titles and four NCAA Tournament appearances.  The 2002 squad set a FAU record, and led the nation, with 62 victories and earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Regional.  Bellisari played in 210 games, making 201 starts, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences.

A decorated high school athlete at local Boca Raton High School, she was an all-state and four-time all-conference selection in softball, garnering Boca Raton News Player of the Year honors her senior year.
