Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – Lynn University's men's soccer team lost 5-2 to Nova Southeastern on Wednesday night. Kyle Conrad, though, became just the fourth player in school history to log 100 career points when heassisted on the Fighting Knights first goal of the night. Lynn drops to 8-7 overall and 2-5 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Minutes into the match, Conrad had a chance to put LU on top but his header was lifted just over the top right corner. Instead, NSU's Juan Gonzalez took advantage of two Blue & White defensive mistakes to put the Sharks ahead 2-0.
Lynn cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 23rd minute of play and Conrad etched his name into the record books. Joe Cundall set the play up when he launched a cross from the right sideline to the left post. Conrad beat his defender and headed a pass to the top of the box where Scott McCubbin settled and ripped a shot to the left post. The Jensen Beach, Fla., native becomes the first player since Jakob Lorentzon in 1995 to cross the 100 point plateau.
Nova Southeastern (8-5-2, 4-4-0 SSC) tacked on a goal in the 61st minute following another defensive blunder but Conrad got LU back into the game when he was tripped up by the Sharks keeper in the box, giving the Knights a penalty kick. McCubbin then nailed the PK for his first career multi-goal game.
Unfortunately for Lynn, two players were issued red cards in the 68th minute and Nova was able to benefit from the two-man advantage to the tune of two goals.
The Blue & White close out their season on Sunday, October 31, at 6 p.m. when they take on their bitter rivals Barry in Miami Shores, Fla. Fans can follow the action live by logging on to www.LynnFightingKnights.com.
