Indianapolis, Ind. - Still taking in the excitement of winning its first Sunshine State Conference Tournament title, Lynn University's women's basketball team must now turn its attention to the NCAA South Regional Tournament. The Fighting Knights have earned the seventh-seed and will square off against second-seed Delta State in Russellville, Ark., on the campus of Arkansas Tech. Arkansas Tech earned top billing in the South Region following a double-overtime victory against Delta State in the Gulf South Conference tournament finals. Fort Valley drew the third seed with fellow SSC institution Tampa selected fourth, Barry fifth, Valdosta State sixth, LU seventh and Benedict getting the final slot.
The Fighting Knights have battled the Lady Statesmen twice in the last three years, falling 68-51 in Cleveland, Miss., in 2007 but winning 57-55 in the friendly confines of the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center last season.
