Winter Park, Fla. - Lynn University's volleyball team snapped Rollins' seven game winning-streak with a 3-2 Sunshine State Conference season opening victory on Friday evening.  Three Fighting Knights logged 10 or more kills with Mallory Deneen notching a team-high 20 kills while also logging 17 digs for the double-double.  Lynn improves to 7-2 overall in 1-0 in SSC play.

"This was a great match against a quality opponent," said head coach Lynze Roos.  "You can't discount playing against a conference team at home and we stepped up to pick up a big victory.   Now we need to keep out composure versus a Florida Southern squad which we've had success against in the past but is looking to get back into the national polls."

In addition to Deneen's feat, Devon Woolard and Katie Bradley also logged double-doubles.  Woolard dished out 38 assists and 17 digs while Bradley notched 11 kills and 14 digs.  Lacy Redwine led LU with 21 digs.

Lynn picked up an early 25-17 win in the first set while hitting .231 before dropping the second set 25-19 and hitting .026.  The Blue & White regained the lead in the third set with 25-22 win but saw the match square itself at two following a 25-17 loss in the fourth set.

The Fighting Knights went up 13-9 in the final game only to see Rollins claw its way back into the lead with five consecutive points.  Deneen, though, snapped a 14-14 tie with a kill down the left side of the court before Haley Pratt put the match away with consecutive kills.

Lynn returns to action on Saturday, September 18, at 4 p.m. when it faces Florida Southern in Lakeland, Fla.  Fans can follow the action live by logging on to www.LynnFighing.Knights.com and selecting the "Game Central" link.
