Men's Hoops Shoots 61% in Win Over Barry

Miami Shores, Fla. - Lynn University's men's basketball team got back on track with a 69-56 win over Barry Saturday afternoon at BU's Sports and Health Center.  With the victory, the Fighting Knights improve to 4-13 overall and 2-5 in the Sunshine State Conference.  Barry falls to 4-12 and 1-6 in the SSC.

Chris Hall led all scorers with 22 points to match his season-high on 6-of-9 shooting.  The senior was the go-to guy as Barry cut it close as he also made 9-12 from the charity stripe.  Fourteen of Hall's 22 points came in the second half.

Lynn was hot from the field throughout the game, sinking 61% of its shots as opposed to just 40.8% for the Buccaneers.  LU also dominated on the glass, outrebounding Barry, 35-19.  The Knights also benefited from long rebounds off Barry misses and converted 16 fast-break points to zero for the Buccaneers.

Also stepping up for the Fighting Knights was Jovan Robinson with 16 points and he also made several big buckets in the clutch.  Thirteen of his points also came in the second half.

The Fighting Knights dominated the first half and went into the break with a 32-23 lead behind a whopping 76.5 shooting percentage from the field.  Barry was up 16-10 early in the half as Lynn struggled holding onto the ball but LU went on a 21-5 run over the next 6:48 to take a 31-21 lead.  Jimmy Gaskins scored all 14 of his points in the first half which led all players at the break.

Midway through the second half, Barry cut an 11-point Lynn lead to one but could not regain a lead as Lynn went on a 8-0 run behind five points by Robinson and a three-point play by Hall.

LU is back in action Wednesday, January 26, when they host Rollins for a 7:30 tip.  Fans can follow the action by logging onto www.LynnFightingKnights.com and clicking on "Game Central."
