The Final Countdown

BOCA RATON, Fla.—Fresh off of back-to-back Sunshine State Conference wins and with only six matches left in the regular season, the Lynn University volleyball team faces a crucial portion of their schedule as the NCAA Tournament looms just around the corner.

This past week, Lynn downed Florida Tech in straight sets then topped Nova Southeastern 3-1 on Saturday, October 28. The two wins in a row marked the second time this season the Fighting Knights won back-to-back SSC games.

Now boasting a 13-12 overall record, Lynn is eligible for a regional ranking. With a several winnable games on the docket in November, the Blue & White could find themselves in the NCAA Tournament for the fifth-straight year.

On November 2, the Fighting Knights make the trip south down I95 and play rival Barry. In the previous matchup with the Barry Buccaneers, Lynn rolled out to a 3-1 victory with freshman Shannon Dugan leading the way and registering 15 kills.

This week, the Fighting Knights look to make history and take their first-ever win over Barry in Miami Shores, Fla.

After the Barry match, Lynn heads to Winter Park, Fla., to face the Rollins College Tars. On October 8, Rollins came to the de Hoernle Center and stole a 3-1 win over the Fighting Knights. The Tars currently sit second in the South Regional rankings and a Blue & White win would be helpful in reaching the coveted top-seven in the region and a berth in the Tournament.

Less than 24 hours after facing the Tars, on Saturday, November 5, Lynn battles two more regional opponents in a double-header at Flagler College. At 4 p.m., Lynn Faces Lander. Then at 6 p.m. on the 5th, the Knights take on Flagler. Head Coach Lynze Roos holds an impressive 11-1 record against the Flagler Saints.
