Men's Hoops Blows Out Barry on Senior Night

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lynn University's men's basketball team let its seniors go out in style, defeating Barry University, 74-54 Saturday night at the de Hoernle Sports & Cultural Center.  The Fighting Knights improve to 6-18 overall and 4-10 in the Sunshine State Conference while the Buccaneers fall to 8-16 and 5-9 in the SSC.  It is the second-straight season Lynn has swept the regular season series with its rivals from Miami Shores.

Senior Chris Hall led the Fighting Knights with 15 points while the other three seniors were also in double figures as Rodney Kennedy scored a season-high 13 points and both Terrell Williams and Jovan Robinson went for 10 points apiece.  Cameron McCallum also scored in double-figures with 11 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The Knights shot well from all over the court as they went 49.2 from the field including 7-of-14 from long distance.

After falling behind 2-0 to start the game, Lynn quickly tied it up with a layup by Chris Watson.  After that it was all Blue & White as LU went on a 27-8 run over the next 12 minutes paced by three treys by Kennedy.

Up by 19, 29-10 with 7:14 left to play, the teams traded baskets for the rest of the half as a Barry jumper with just under a minute gave Lynn a 41-26 lead going into the break.

Barry could not sustain any runs in the second half, only cutting the lead down to 13 seven minutes into the second half.  Kennedy's final bucket with 1:07 remaining gave Lynn its largest lead at 74-52 as the Bucs hit a jumper with 10 seconds left to end the game.

The Blue & White are back in action Wednesday night when they travel to Nova Southeastern on February 23 for a 7:30 tip.  Fans can follow the action by logging onto www.LynnFightingKnights.com and clicking on "Game Central."
