Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – Lynn University's men's basketball team earned its second consecutive victory following an 86-73 victory at Nova Southeastern on Wednesday night. Chris Hall had a game-high 22 points while three other players finished in double-digit scoring. The Fighting Knights improve to 7-18 overall and 5-10 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Nova Southeastern came out on fire, hitting its first three shots while holding the Fighting Knights scoreless for the first three minutes in building a 7-0 lead. Not panicking, Hall snapped LU out of its funk with a jumper in transition and Rodney Kennedy followed with a three from theleft wing.
Lynn used a balanced first-half scoring attack to get back into the contest, eventually tying the game at 20 after Kennedy knocked down a pair of free throws. One possession later, Hall hit the first of his two threes in the half to put the Blue & White on top 23-20.
John Brooks tied the game and then gave NSU back the lead with a pair of long-range threes but Lynn's resiliency shown as it went 4-for-4 at the charity stripe heading into the locker room on top 35-33.
Lynn exploded offensively in the second half, at one point making 74% of its shots before finishing the half on 62.1% shooting. Hall hit four more treys for a season-high six three-pointers made as LU opened up a double-figure lead.
The tides turned a bit with just under eight minutes remaining after Jovan Robinson missed on a fast-break attempt. Nova answered with an 8-0 run to pull to within seven, 69-62, only to have Josh Garcia and Jimmy Gaskins put the nail in the coffin with a jumper as the shot clock expired and a three on the left sideline to put the Blue & White back on top 74-62.
Terrell Williams later added an exclamation point with a thundering dunk that silenced the crowd and took the air out of the Sharks sails. Robinson had 15 points, Gaskins added 13 and Cameron McCallum chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds.
