Women's Hoops Falls To Tampa In SSC Quarterfinals

Tampa, Fla. - Lynn University's women's basketball team fell to the University of Tampa, 75-65, in the Sunshine State Conference Quarterfinals Wednesday night at the Martine Center.  The Fighting Knights' season comes to an end at 12-15 overall while the Spartans improve to 21-6.

The second-seeded Spartans will go on to the conference semifinals where they will take on the winner of Nova Southeastern and FloridaTech.

Chelsea Patterson scored 24 points on 8-of-19 shooting and sunk four threes to lead all scorers.  The five-foot-four Largo, Fla., native also led all players with seven rebounds on the night while Marquis Lee added 18 for the Blue & White.  Kira Harvey was also in double figures scoring all 11 of her points after halftime.

Lynn trailed by as many as 19 but got the lead down to six at 71-65 with just under a minute to go thanks to eight straight points from Patterson.  

The Fighting Knights made two more field goals than the Spartans who shot an impressive 50% from the floor on 23-of-46.  However, Tampa was more aggressive and made 25-of-31 free throws compared to just 8-of-9 for the Blue & White.
