Men's Basketball Drowns the Sharks

Davie, Fla.—Lynn University's men's basketball team overcame a nine-point deficit with Josh Garcia pouring in 22 in an 82-67 win over Nova Southeastern in Sunshine State Conference play on Wednesday.

In addition to a game-high 22, Garcia added four assists and no turnovers. After Garcia's 22, Jeremy Lampkin finished with 15, Slobodan Miljanic had 14, Bo Jukic had 11 and DeMario Fountain collected 10.

Lynn (10-8, 3-3) took an early lead just under 2:00 minutes off the clock in the first half but Nova answered on the next possession to take a 5-4 lead with 17:32 left in the half. Nova never surrendered the advantage the rest of the half and with 3:13 left in period one, the Sharks tallied a nine point tilt.

Josh Garcia brought Lynn to within four at the halftime buzzer after converting on a 10-foot floater to make it Lynn 34, Nova 38.

The Sharks compiled a 57.7 percent shooting mark from the floor for the first half while the Knights countered with a 51.9 first-half field goal percentage. Both teams also posted stellar 3-point percentages in the first half with Nova connecting on 3-of-6 and Lynn hitting 3-of-7.

The Knights posted a 4-2 run to start the second half to knot things up at 40. After a Bo Jukic layup with 11:47 left, the score was tied once again at 54. Lynn then rolled off a 13-3 run to take their largest lead of the game at 10 with 7:36 left to play.    

Lynn continued to press the Sharks and added to its advantage at the free throw line to end the match with the 15-point win.

For the game, the Blue & White amassed a 54.9 shooting percentage and connected on 7-of-14 from behind the arc.

Lynn's all-time leading rebounder, Michel Vidal, continued to pad his record with 12 boards and three steals.

The Lynn defense held Nova to a mere 29 second-half points and 20 percent shooting from behind the arc.
