Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla.—Lynn University's men's basketball team suffered a 79-68 loss to the Florida Southern College Mocs despite solid outings from Josh Garcia, Jeremy Lampkin, and Preye Preboye on Saturday in Sunshine State Conference action.
Lampkin led Lynn (13-13, 6-8 SSC) with 18 points followed by Garcia with 17 and Preboye with 14. Lampkin also paced the Blue & White in the rebounding column with nine.
Florida Southern held the lead to start the game until the 11:41 markwhen Slobodan Miljanic converted on a fast break layup to give Lynn an 11-10 advantage.
The rest of the first half went back and forth with no team amassing a lead of over three points. The Knights entered the intermission with aslim 30-29 lead.
Lynn marched out to a nine-point lead to start the second half on a Lampkin jumper with 14:31 left, to go up 46-37. Then again with 13:26 remaining in regulation, the Blue & White totaled a nine-point tilt but the Mocs rallied with a 16-4 run to snag a 57-54lead with 10:36 left to play.
After the Mocs went up 65-58, Lynn battled back and with 4:08 on the clock DeMario Fountain' jumper pulled the Knights to within two. Florid Southern answered, however with five-straight points to post a 72-65 lead.
The Mocs continued to knock down difficult shots and convert at the free throw line to close out the game with the 11-point win.
Florida Southern tallied a 52 percent clip from behind the arc with Seth Evans going 7-for-10 from downtown. Garcia amassed a 5-for-11 mark from 3-point land while the rest of the Knights went 0-for-11.
On the game, Lynn shot 43 percent from the field with the Mocs checking in at just under 42 percent. Lynn committed 19 costly turnovers with 11 coming in the second half while Florida Southern totaled 21 points off the Fighting Knights' mishaps.
Lynn battles Nova Southeastern on Wednesday, February 22, at 7:30 p.m. in its next game.
