Box Score Fort Lauderdale, Fla- Lynn University's volleyball team (15-9, 2-5 SSC) was swept by Nova Southeastern on Tuesday night. The Fighting Knights lost 0-3, (22-25, 19-25, 21-25), in the Sunshine State Conference matchup. The Sharks move to 5-13 overall while picking up their first SSC win of the season (1-6).
The Sharks took an early lead, 8-5, in the first set. Lynn closed the gap to trail by one, 17-18, with a block assist by Caple and Claire Angelich but fell 22-25 in the set. Lynn hit .069 with ten kills while the Sharks had a .111 clip. Lizzy Raffa led the offense with three kills while NSU's Sydney Cook had a set-high five kills. Marissa Tandron dished out nine assists and Liga Strautniece had a set-high five digs.
Trailing 0-1 in the match, LU came out hot in the second set taking an immediate lead. The score would flip-flop throughout the match before an 8-2 run by Nova Southeastern would pull the Sharks ahead 23-18. The Fighting Knights dropped the second set, 19-25.
Down 0-2 in the match, LU trailed by five early. The Blue & White rallied knot the set at 16-all and again at 20-all before falling 21-15 in the must-win set. Despite having their best hitting percentage of the game in the set, .212, the Fighting Knights could not keep up with NSU's .344 clip and 15 kills.
Caple had a team-high 11 kills and two errors for a .409 clip while Tandron had 31 assists. The Sharks edged Lynn 17-16 in kills while hitting .210 to LU's .160.
The Fighting Knights return home on Friday, October 25, for their first home match since September 28. First serve against the Lions of Saint Leo (16-6, 2-4 SSC) is set for 7 pm.
