Box Score Melbourne, Fla.- The Lynn University Volleyball team lost 3-0, (25-19, 25-16, 27-25), to Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla., on Friday night. The Fighting Knights move to 11-5 on the season and 1-2 in the Sunshine State Conference.
Florida Tech opened the match with a 9-3 run. The Fighting Knights were able to cut the deficit to five at 22-17 but FIT was able to hold off for a 25-19 win. Lizzy Raffa led the team with four kills while Angie Caple added three. Freshman Marissa Tandron had 11 assists in the set. Florida Tech outhit Lynn with a .424 hitting percentage and 16 kills to Lynn's .219 clip and 12 kills.
Lynn was unable to make up ground in the second set after the Panthers took a quick 5-2 lead and never turned back. FIT capitalized on LU's errors, winning 25-16 to take a two set lead. Katie Knight led the Blue & White with five kills in the loss.
LU was able to maintain a close third set with three lead changes and eight score ties but Florida Tech held off the Fighting Knights for a 27-25 win. Raffa led Lynn's offense with four kills, totaling nine throughout the match.
Knight matched Raffa with nine kills as well while Nikki Haben had 11 digs and two blocks. The Panthers outhit Lynn with a .263 clip while the Fighting Knights had 21 attack errors and 34 kills totaling a .125 hitting percentage.
