Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla.- The Lynn University volleyball team got revenge on Nova Southeastern, who swept LU earlier in the season, with a 3-2, (22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 24-16, 15-12), win on Tuesday night. The win advances the Fighting Knights to 18-13 overall and 5-8 in the Sunshine State Conference while NSU falls to 5-19 and 1-12 in the SSC. Sara Aloisio had a team-high 15 kills and Marissa Tandron recorded 54 assists in the win. Katie Knight and Liga Strautniece each notched double-double performances in the victory.
Strautniece recorded four kills in the opening set but LU fell to Nova Southeastern 25-22. The Blue & White made crucial errors while NSU capitalized with 15 kills for a .250 attack percentage. Tandron dished out 11 assists while Nikki Haben had a team-high six digs.
Lynn came back to win the second set, 25-21, to tie the match at 1-all. The Fighting Knights improved their attack game hitting .297 in the set with 18 kills. Knight led LU with four kills and five digs while Sydney Cook of NSU also recorded four kills.
LU continued its dominance in the third set with a 25-19 win. The Fighitng Knights hit .281 while holding the Sharks to a .053 clip. Aloisio had a set-high six kills for the Blue & White and Tandron dished out 14 assists.
Despite opening the set on a 6-1 run, the Fighting Knights lost the fourth set, 26-24, to NSU. With the match tied at 22-all, the Sharks pushed through to even the match at 2-all and force a deciding set.
The Blue & White took an 8-4 lead in the fifth set but Nova Southeastern rallied back before LU escaped with the 15-13 win to secure the SSC victory.
Aloisio had 15 kills and four blocks in the win with a .379 clip. Strautniece had 14 kills and 12 digs and Knight had 12 kills and 18 digs. Angie Caple added nine kills for the Blue & White while Elyse Fleck notched seven kills off the bench. Haben recorded a match-high 23 digs and Tandron dished out 54 helpers with seven kills of her own.
