No Pressure Under the Northern Lights: Volleyball Adds Two Wins in New Hampshire

Manchester, N.H.- The Lynn University volleyball team improved its record to 9-2 on Friday after defeating Dowling,  3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-17), and Southern New Hampshire, 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-23), in non-region match ups. Marissa Tandron paced the Fighting Knights with 69 assists over the course of the day while Angie Caple had a team-high 28 kills between the two matches. 

Caple led the Blue & White with five kills in the opening set versus Dowling with Tandron setting up 13 of Lynn's 17 kills. Katie Knight had a set-high eight digs with Nikki Haben following close behind with seven of her own. As a team the Fighting Knights hit .189 compared to Dowling's .089 clip en route to a 25-19 win to take a 1-0 lead in the match. 

Lynn's offense improved in the second set, with only one attack error the Blue & White had 12 kills, once again led by Caple. Knight recored a pair of service aces and Tandron added 10 assists in the 25-15 victory. 

The Blue & White held Dowling to a .086 hitting percentage while connecting on 17-of-39 attempts for a .410 clip. Caple led the team with five kills while Knight and Raffa added four a piece in the 25-17 win which finalized Lynn's feat over Dowling, 3-0. 

Leading the offense was Caple who had a team-high 16 kills while Tandron assisted 35 points helping the team to a .311 clip. Knight had a team-high 16 digs and Haben added 13 herself. 

Against Southern New Hampshire, the Fighting Knights were led by Caple once again with Sara Aloisio adding ten kills of her own, helping the team to a .214 hitting percentage. 

In the opening set, Lynn started with a 5-1 run and SNHU had trouble keeping pace with the Lynn offense which was led by Caple with 7 kills. Tandron had 11 assists while Knight led the team in digs with five. LU went on to win the set 21-19 taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

LU hit a game-high .268 in the second set en route to the 25-21 victory while holding the Penmen to a .222 clip. Aloisio led the Blue & White with six kills on nine attempts with only one error. Tandron dished out 15 assists and five digs and a service ace to help Lynn's offense take a 2-0 lead in the match. 

Lynn clinched the 3-0 win in a close 25-23 final set where the Fighting Knights were led by Raffa who totaled three kills. With the loss the Penmen move to 4-2 while Lynn moves to 9-2 for its sixth consecutive win. 

The Blue & White will take the court Saturday, September 21, against Saint Anslem's with first serve at 1 pm as the Fighting Knights look for their tenth win of the season before facing Bentley at 3:30 pm.
